E306 -- Supplement aux recherches sur la propagation du son
(Supplement to the research on the propagation of sound)
Summary:
(based on Clifford A. Truesdell's introduction to Opera Omnia Series II, Volume 12)
In this paper, Euler gets a result that is equivalent to the general formulae of inversion for partial
differentiations. He also discovers the wave equation for aerial acoustics, noting in addition
that cylindrical and spherical waves also follow it.
According to C. G. J. Jacobi, a treatise with this title was presented to the Berlin Academy on
December 13, 1759.
